Kumbhalgarh Fort wall and the hill road at sunset
Three legs, one long and easy day
The road climbs into the Aravalli hills after Udaipur, so your driver keeps a steady pace rather than a fast one. Times below are normal driving times without stops.
| Leg | Distance | Drive time | Time there |
|---|---|---|---|
| Udaipur → Kumbhalgarh Fort | ~85 km | 2–2.5 hr | 2–2.5 hr at the fort |
| Kumbhalgarh → Ranakpur Temple | ~50 km | 1–1.5 hr | About 1.5 hr at the temple |
| Ranakpur → Udaipur | ~90 km | 2–2.5 hr | Back by evening |
Best season: October to March. In summer, start earlier and carry extra water for the fort walk. In the monsoon the hills turn green, but the climb at Kumbhalgarh can be slippery.

How the day goes
This plan follows your choices in the booking box. We plan the order around Ranakpur’s afternoon visiting hours.
- Hotel pickup
Leave Udaipur early. The drive north through the Aravalli hills takes about 2 to 2.5 hours.
- Kumbhalgarh Fort
Walk the ramparts and climb to Badal Mahal for the view. Give it 2 to 2.5 hours, and wear good shoes: it is uphill most of the way.

- On the way to Ranakpur
Your driver knows a few clean dhabas and resort restaurants on the road between the two.
- Ranakpur Jain Temple
The temple opens to visitors who are not there for worship from about 12 PM to 5 PM, so we plan the fort first. Allow about 1.5 hours for the marble halls and 1,444 carved pillars.

- Back to Udaipur
Head back through the hills and reach your hotel by evening, usually 10 to 11 hours after pickup.

Cover your shoulders and knees. Shoes and leather items such as belts and wallets stay outside, and food is not allowed inside the temple.

Can we see the Kumbhalgarh light and sound show?

Can we add Haldighati or Nathdwara?

Which car is best for 6 people?
An Ertiga for 6 with light luggage, or an Innova Crysta if you want more legroom and space for bags on the hill roads.

Are the fares the same all year?
