Ahmedabad to Udaipur by road
It is one highway the whole way: NH-48, wide and smooth, flat until the Rajasthan border and through the Aravalli hills after it.

Leave Ahmedabad by 2 PM if you can. The hill stretch after Rishabhdeo is easier in daylight, and you reach Udaipur in time for the sunset over the lake.

Which car should you book?
1 to 3 people with cabin bags: a sedan is the cheapest way to go.
4 adults with big suitcases: take the Ertiga. Four people and four suitcases do not fit in a sedan.
Family of 5–6: the Ertiga, or an Innova Crysta if you want more leg room for five hours.
8 to 12 people: one Tempo Traveller costs less than two cars and keeps the group together.

Before you go
Landing at the airport: send us the flight number. If the flight is late, the driver waits; you do not need to call.
Old city hotels: the lanes around Jagdish Chowk, Lal Ghat and Gangaur Ghat are too narrow for cars at busy hours. The driver drops you at the nearest point and your hotel sends someone for the bags.
Food: eat on the Gujarat side, between Prantij and Shamlaji. There are fewer good stops after the border.
Late pickups: the highway is busy with trucks after dark. We take night bookings, but a morning start is easier on everyone.
