The usual route crosses the Aravallis past Ranakpur and then runs flat through Pali. The hill part is slow and green; the second half is fast and dry.

Before you go
Ranakpur timing: the temple opens to visitors at 12 noon. Leave Udaipur around 9:30 AM and you arrive just as it opens, without waiting.
Dress for the temple: covered shoulders and knees. Leather belts and bags stay outside.
With Kumbhalgarh too: it becomes a 10-hour day. Leave by 8 AM, or stay a night near Kumbhalgarh.
Old city hotels in Jodhpur: the lanes below the fort are too narrow for cars. The driver drops you at the nearest gate and your hotel sends someone for the bags.

Yes. It adds about 50 km and 2.5 hours, from ₹900 in a sedan. With both stops, leave Udaipur by 8 AM.
Do I pay for the driver’s return on a one-way trip?
No. The one-way fare is the full price for the drop.
Which route does the driver take?
Via Gogunda, Ranakpur, Sadri and Pali. If you would rather avoid the hill road, tell us when you book and we will suggest the other route and its fare.
