Is Uber Available in Udaipur? Ola, Rapido, Autos and City Buses
Yes, Uber is available in Udaipur, and so are Ola and Rapido. But the old city is a knot of lanes where a car is often slower than your feet. Here is what works for getting around Udaipur, what doesn’t, and which one to pick for the day you have planned.

- Old city: walk. City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Bagore ki Haveli and Gangaur Ghat are 10 to 15 minutes apart on foot.
- Autos have no fixed fare. The driver names a price and you bargain. If you don’t want to, book through an app.
- Uber in Udaipur works, and so do Ola and Rapido, with cars, autos and bike taxis. Cars are hard to get inside the old city lanes.
- AC electric city buses run on the main roads from ₹10 a ride.
- A full day of sightseeing: a scooty if you ride, a cab with a driver if you don’t.
01Uber in Udaipur and your other options at a glance
| Option | What you pay | Good for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|

| Auto rickshaw | No fixed fare, bargained each time | Short rides, station to hotel | Settle the price before you sit |
| App cab or app auto | Shown in the app before you book | Main roads, newer parts of the city | Few drivers reach the old city lanes |
| Bike taxi | Shown in the app, the cheapest app ride | One person with a small bag | One passenger only |
| Electric city bus | ₹10 to ₹60 by distance | Main roads, station, bus stand, Eklingji | Stops at the old city gates, not inside |

| Scooty or bike on rent | A daily rent plus petrol | Couples and solo travellers | You need a valid driving licence |
02On foot in the old city

Most of what people come to see sits in one small area around Jagdish Chowk. From the City Palace gate you can walk to Jagdish Temple, on to Bagore ki Haveli and down to Gangaur Ghat without needing a vehicle. The lanes are narrow, and a car that enters them moves at walking speed anyway.
The rules for vehicles here keep changing. Parking has not been allowed between Moti Chohatta and Ghantaghar since May 2024. In March 2026 the district administration discussed closing two stretches to vehicles altogether: Chandpole to Jagdish Temple, and Rangniwas Chowki to Jagdish Temple. Ask your hotel what is in force on the day you arrive.
Staying near Lal Ghat or Gangaur Ghat? Ask the hotel where a car can drop you. Many of them send someone to the nearest wide road to help with bags.
03Auto rickshaws
Autos are everywhere and they fit where cars don’t. They are the quickest way to cover a couple of kilometres: station to hotel, old city to Fateh Sagar, dinner and back.
- How the fare works: there is no fixed fare and no meter in use. The driver quotes what he likes, usually on the high side for a visitor, and you bargain it down.
- How to bargain: ask your hotel what the ride should cost, offer a little under that, and agree before you sit. If the price stays silly, walk to the next auto.
- Don’t want to bargain? Book an auto on Rapido, or a cab on Ola or Uber. The app shows the fare first.
- How many fit: three adults. With big suitcases, count on two.
- Not for a sightseeing day. The stops are spread out and you bargain again at each one.
We have not printed auto fares because there is no official chart to quote. What you pay depends on the hour, the season and how you bargain.
04Is Uber available in Udaipur? Ola and Rapido too
Yes. Uber in Udaipur takes bookings at any hour, and Ola and Rapido run here as well. For getting around without bargaining, the apps are the easy choice. The fare is fixed on the screen before you confirm, which is why many visitors prefer them to a street auto.
| App | Car | Auto | Bike taxi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uber | Yes, and UberXL for up to six | Check the app | Yes, Uber Bike |
| Ola | Yes | Check the app | Yes |
| Rapido | Yes | Yes | Yes |
- Where they work well: the main roads and the newer parts of the city.
- Where they struggle: inside the old city. Drivers often can’t reach the pin, and travellers report long waits and cancelled rides. Walk out to the nearest wide road, then book.
- Bike taxis: the cheapest and often the fastest ride for one person. A bike gets through traffic and lanes that hold a car up. They take one passenger and little luggage.
- Keep two apps on your phone. When one has no driver nearby, the other often does.
Don’t plan an early flight or a train around Uber in Udaipur, or any app ride. If no driver accepts at 5 AM, you have very little time to find another way.
05Electric city buses
Udaipur now has AC electric buses run by Udaipur City Transport Services (UCTSL). The new fleet came into service in 2026, and by 1 October there were 34 buses on the road. They are air-conditioned and by far the cheapest way of getting around Udaipur on the main roads.
| Distance | Fare |
|---|---|
| Up to 3 km | ₹10 |
| 3 to 5 km | ₹15 |
| 5 to 10 km | ₹20 |
| 10 to 15 km | ₹30 |
| 15 to 20 km | ₹40 |
| 20 to 25 km | ₹50 |
| 25 to 30 km | ₹60 |
- Where they stop: the Central Bus Stand, the railway station, Chetak Circle, Delhi Gate, Surajpole, Hathipole, Fatehpura, Bhuwana, Shobhagpura and Balicha, among others.
- Routes in use include Badgaon to Balicha, IIM to Bhuwana, Titardi to Bhuwana and Balicha to Pacific Hospital.
- To Eklingji: a newer route runs from Chetak to Eklingji at Kailashpuri for ₹40.
- For the old city: get down at Hathipole, Delhi Gate or Surajpole and walk in. The buses are 9 and 12 metres long and stay on the wide roads.
- Tell the conductor where you are going. Routes are still being added and changed, so ask before you board.
Fares and bus count as reported in August and October 2026. The fare chart also lists an airport service at ₹100 a passenger. Check that it is running before you count on it.
06Taxi with a driver
A cab with a local driver makes sense when you have luggage, children or parents with you, or a day with many stops.
- How it works: you book the car for a set trip or a set number of hours. The driver waits while you look around and knows where to park.
- What you pay: one price for the whole trip, agreed before you start. Tolls and entry tickets are separate.
- Outside the city: for Kumbhalgarh, Chittorgarh or Nathdwara it is the only sensible choice, unless you want to ride there yourself.
- Large groups: a Tempo Traveller cannot enter the lanes near Jagdish Chowk and Lal Ghat. Groups are picked up from the nearest wide road.
Our cab service in Udaipur page lists the cars and what each kind of trip costs.
07Scooty or bike on rent

If you ride, a scooty is the easiest way to see Udaipur. It goes through the lanes a car can’t, parking is rarely a problem, and you are not waiting for anyone. Fateh Sagar, Sajjangarh and Badi Lake are all short rides from the old city.
- What you pay: a daily rent and your own petrol.
- Carry your original driving licence. You will be asked for it.
- Wear the helmet, both of you.
- Ride slowly in the old city. The lanes are shared with people on foot, cows and delivery bikes.
- Not a rider? Don’t learn here. Take an auto, a bus or a cab.
See the models and daily prices on our scooty on rent in Udaipur page. For a first ride, try Fateh Sagar and Saheliyon ki Bari in the morning.
08From the airport and the railway station
| Arriving at | Distance to the old city | What people use |
|---|---|---|
| Maharana Pratap Airport, Dabok | Roughly 22 km | Prepaid taxi counter at the airport, a pre-booked cab, or an app cab if one is nearby |
| Udaipur City railway station | About 3 km | Auto rickshaw, an app ride, or a city bus towards the old city gates |
| Central Bus Stand, Udaipole | About 2 km | Auto rickshaw, an app ride, or a city bus |
The airport is well outside the city, so decide how you will get in before you land, above all on a late flight. If Uber in Udaipur shows no car at the airport, the prepaid taxi counter is the fallback. If you would like a driver waiting with your name, see our Udaipur airport taxi page.
09Which one for your trip
Getting around Udaipur comes down to where you are staying and what the day holds. For a day-by-day plan with every cost, see our Udaipur itinerary.
| Your plan | What we would do |
|---|---|
| One day, old city only | Walk, and take an auto back if your legs give up |
| Solo, on a tight budget | City bus on the main roads, bike taxi for the rest |
| Two or three days, a couple who ride | Rent a scooty for the whole stay |
| Family with children or elders | Cab with a driver for the sightseeing day, on foot in the old city |
| Group of eight or more | One Tempo Traveller, picked up from a wide road |
| Day trip out of the city | Cab with a driver, or a bike if you like long rides |
| Early flight or train | Book the cab the evening before |
