Jodhpur to Udaipur by road
The first half is flat and fast through Pali. After Sadri the road climbs into the Aravallis past Ranakpur, and the last stretch into Udaipur is highway again.

Which car should you book?
1 to 3 people with cabin bags: a sedan is the cheapest way to go.
4 adults with big suitcases: take the Ertiga. Four people and four suitcases do not fit in a sedan.
Elderly parents or motion sickness: an Innova Crysta rides smoothest on the hill bends.
8 to 12 people: one Tempo Traveller costs less than two cars and keeps the group together.

Before you go
Ranakpur timing: the temple opens to visitors at 12 noon. Leave Jodhpur around 9 AM and you arrive just as it opens.
Dress for the temple: covered shoulders and knees. Leather belts and bags stay outside.
With Kumbhalgarh too: leave Jodhpur by 8 AM. The road from the fort to Udaipur is hilly and better done before dark.
Old city hotels in Udaipur: the lanes around Jagdish Chowk, Lal Ghat and Gangaur Ghat are too narrow for cars at busy hours. The driver drops you at the nearest point and your hotel sends someone for the bags.

Can we add Kumbhalgarh too?
Yes. It adds about 50 km and 2.5 hours, from ₹900 in a sedan. With both stops, leave Jodhpur by 8 AM.
Do you pick up from Jodhpur airport and the railway station?
Yes, and from any hotel in the city. For old city hotels the driver meets you at the nearest gate a car can reach.
Do I pay for the return on a one-way trip?
No. The one-way fare is the full price for the drop in Udaipur.
Can the car stay with us in Udaipur?

Can we stop at the Ashapura Mata temple in Nadol?
